Building a successful retailer platform for Costcutter Supermarkets Group

Costcutter Supermarkets Group have over 2600 convenience stores and have been serving the UK for 30 years.

Following a partnership with Palmer & Harvey, they created a new £5bn joint venture which offered the largest volume of buying power in the UK convenience sector. This needed a new IT and marketing infrastructure - the key to this being the creation of a central platform - ActivHUB - which would unite all the systems required by their retailers.

The challenge

During the Discovery stage, a number of key requirements were highlighted for the content management system, including the need for advanced personalisation and marketing automation.

ActivHUB would also have to drive user uptake and franchisee engagement by offering a seamlessly integrated digital experience with the businesses six legacy management systems. Time to roll up our sleeves.

Our solution

To achieve the required level of personalisation and marketing automation, Sitecore was selected as the Enterprise Customer Experience Platform on which ActivHUB would be delivered.

To ensure the platform would resonate with the retailers, the user experience design was based on franchisee and head office insight. This was all integrated into Costcutter Supermarkets Group's ActivTechnology suite.

The launch of ActivHUB was a huge success, with 91% of users accessing it at least twice in the first week.
