Music to
our ears

Digitising the award winning metropolitan music festival Live at Leeds

Live at Leeds is today an award winning metropolitan festival. But a few years back, they came to us wanting to go digital.

Their aim was to create a presence for both the festival’s website and mobile app which would reach out to not just to their local audience, but also festival goers further afield. It was music to our ears.

The challenge

We wanted to design a website that captured the energy of the festival, making sure that whatever we created was easy for the Live at Leeds team to manage and could be built upon in the future. Anything that we produced had to connect with music fans through socially and be relevant to their expectations of the festival experience. For the mobile app we had to develop a must-have tool for festival goers that enhanced their weekend and at the same time helped the Live at Leeds team manage queueing and customer service.

Our solution

We built the new website on the Umbraco platform and integrated the mobile app within the same CMS. This meant that the client could manage all website and app content content through one dashboard and add bands as and when they were announced and added to the line-up. The client could also set up push notifications through the CMS which enabled festival updates to be pushed to users pre-event and queue management alerts during the event weekend itself.

This process streamlined the Live at Leeds team's administrative process and drastically sped up response times for the delivery of alerts and notifications.

104,187 weekend sessions

From the initial spike in traffic in February to the conclusion of the weekend, there were 104,187 sessions.

"We worked with Enjoy Digital for three years, they created a website and app for Live at Leeds, one of our flagship events. The app in particular became a staple for people attending our event as it provided an easy to use platform to plan their day! The app was also was shortlisted for the Prolific North Digital Awards in 2015, which we were thrilled about!"
