Developing a fresh digital focus for Hudson Contract

Hudson Contract are the UK’s market leader in CIS payroll with a track record for ensuring the self-employed status of construction industry sub-contractors. 

We first won the project to re-design and develop their website and have since worked with them managing and reporting on all their digital marketing activities.

The challenge

We had to first bring their website up to date, improve its performance as a lead generation tool and position Hudson as leaders within their industry. As it stood, there wasn't much visibility across the different search engines and this was affecting their conversation rates and the amount of traffic that went through to the site. 

Our solution

Thanks to a new design, rich media and video, we gave Hudson an online presence in line with their market leader status. Within the first 3 months of launch, the SEO driven content structure had measurably improved organic SEO performance. We also found a gap in the market when it came to information around CIS payroll. Off the back of this, we created a resources section on their website with keyword enriched content.


Testing user engagement

Of course, we didn’t stop there because as part of our ongoing commitment to improve the conversions rates, we’ve performed A/B tests to see if certain changes would increase user engagement. For example, changing the colour of the main navigation bar increased click throughs by 8% and form leads by 110%! Also, as the newsletter sign up was a key area that Hudson wanted to promote, we added in multiple calls to action, that once clicked would take you to the form.

So far, the site has doubled in sign-ups month on month.

94% increase in sessions

Since the new website launched, we have seen a increase in the length of time users have spent on the site and bounce rates have reduced significantly.

133% increase in users

The new site has helped to not only attract new users but to also increase the number of returning users.


Average organic position up 30%

Key informational pieces were created which are now the highest ranking pages on the website, and the site is now being found for 15 new terms.
