It is the morning after the great Leeds Abbey Dash and there are a few sore thighs and calves in the office, I can hear the groans as people walk up and down the stairs.
We had 6 energetic EDonians at the start line, all representing with their amazing Enjoy Digital running t-shirts (printed by Simply The Vest), as we had different predicted race times we were segregated into our designated pens before the race.
As we started at different points we couldn’t run together so we made sure to looked out for each other round the course, as the route was an ‘out and back’ we managed the odd high five when we spotted each other.
After a fast 9k we were all wishing the finish line closer, just before the final turn we were hit by the motorway slip road incline that feels like Mount Everest at the time. Powering through the pain and onto the home straight where everyone was upping their pace for a sprint finish, we were spurred on by the cheering crowd which was an amazing feeling.
The end of the race didn’t signal the end of the day, we went down to the German market and celebrated in true style with some great beer and bratwursts.
It was a great day out for a very worthwhile charity; we’ll see you the same time next year!
