The team had a real ‘thriller’ of a treat this morning, with the return of the Great ED Bake Off and some spooktacular Halloween cakes!
Skilled baking tricks were on display with some technically challenging creations, and a scrumptious array of tasty treats was provided for us to sink our teeth into.
No Mere Mortal Can Resist…
Hannah fashioned some striking chocolate and vanilla red velvet ‘glass shard’ cupcakes:
Becky spun some intricate and chocolatey spider web cupcakes:
I created the monstrous spooky sticky toffee pudding poison toffee apple cake:
Tara made some cute creepy-crawly chocolate rice cake spiders:
Mark’s daughter Millie made some very scary and gooey, chocolatey monster and spider cupcakes especially for us:
and Ollie made the very flavoursome and beautifully presented pumpkin cheesecake:
Jason was also committed to cake, and brought in a suspiciously professional chocolate orange pumpkin cake…
Closing In To Seal Your Doom…
Our top panel of judges, representing the various departments, eagerly awaited their taste tests of the bakes.
The cakes were judged on the appearance, flavour and texture, and after some deliberation we had our first winner.
Hannah’s shard cupcakes were announced ‘The Best Looking’. However, there was a tie for ‘The Best Tasting’, and the vote went to Steve in the crowd to judge. A clear winner was then decided, and Mark’s daughter Millie took the prize for her spider and monster cupcakes!
A Graveyard Smash...
Hannah and Mark both received their prizes of a thoroughly deserved Hotel Chocolat Halloween selection.
Congratulations Mark, Millie and Hannah, and thanks to all our ‘fangtastic’ bakers.
