We were delighted to be nominated for the North of England Excellence ‘Digital Excellence Award’ and last Thursday saw us head to the Royal Armouries Museum for the awards dinner.

We had been nominated for the general approach we take to digital strategy, the execution of that strategy for our clients and for the results we have achieved for them.

We were met by close team ED friend Keith Madeley, known to many as ‘Mr Yorkshire’ as he devotes much of his time to promoting businesses, arts, charities and anything else from the region.

The North of England Excellence, as a body, promote and support excellence within businesses and we were a little thwarted by some giants of the Northern economy such as First TP Express, Northern Rail, Network Rail, DWF and Northern Powergrid in the room of nominees.

The evening began with an opening address from Brigadier G M Strickland DSO MBE, Commander 4th Infantry Brigade, who suddenly made all our achievements as businesses look remarkably average with, amongst others, some inspiring accounts of serving in Afghanistan.

The finalists were then announced and we found out that we were down to the last two with our competition coming from no less than Northern Powergrid!

Before the winners were announced Phil Jones, CEO of Northern Powergrid gave us some good down to earth Yorkshire words of wisdom; it was great to hear from someone who clearly has such passion for everything he does.

The winners were then announced and for a moment the X Factor style ‘and the winner is….’ line lingered….(tense silence)….and Northern Powergrid were announced as the winners!

Well done to them, we were gracious runners up and pleased to have made it to the last two!

So now we work towards further digital excellence…and next year's awards!
